Bad trickday (bloopers)

Hello, my name is Filip Meeus, I am 19 years old and I live in Willebroek, Belgium. I have been Freestyling for about 3 years now, and I still practise almost every day.

When did you first start to Freestyle?
Actually I was juggling the ball at a very early age already, but I started to practise some tricks when I saw the Nike commercials with Edgar Davids on TV. Sometimes I was waiting in front of the television for hours, just to see that commercial again. When I saw the video of Soufiane Touzani on the internet a few years later, I really started to focus on Freestyle and started practising the more advanced tricks.

How did you learn to Freestyle?
I watched videos on the internet over and over again, after that I went outside to practise those tricks. Sometimes I was outside practising till way after dark, just to master one single trick. The most important thing when you start to Freestyle, is to never give up. Sometimes you practise a trick for days, but it still won’t work. Always keep in mind that if you keep on practising, it will come one day.

What is the difference between Feestyle and StreetMatch?
Freestyle and Streetmatch are two totally different disciplines. Sometimes, when people see me Freestyle, they ask me why I don’t play regular football. But the moves we do in Freestyle are totally useless on the field, so they don’t have anything to do with each other.

Who is the best Freestyler?
There are two Freestyler players who I’ve always been a big fan of: Touzani because he was a pioneer and because of the creativity he brings and Abdullah, the famous juggler from the Leidseplein (Amsterdam). His style, creativity and showmanship are just amazing.

What is your best trick?
One of my favourite tricks is the chin stall.

What does Freestyle give you in return?
Freestyle gives me the opportunity to express myself in a creative way. It’s also a chance to visit other countries for performances.

Your motto?
Only practise will make you better

A few days ago I spoke to Jack Aardenburg, one of the members from TrickMasters. He showed me one of his new skills and was curious to know, if this trick was new? So check out his clip and let us know if Jack’s trick is brandnew and never seen before?

Amazing Abdellah

Who doesn’t know Abdellah from Amsterdam! The street artist who performs on the ‘Leidseplein’ downtown Amsterdam, is the best in the world. Many Freestyle players got their inspiration from him. If you ever get to Amsterdam, make sure you’ll check him out, because he shows you skills, you’ve never seen before. He’s a real Freestyle Legend, check out his clip and be the judge.

TM Member interview Ryan Shenker

Hey everyone, my name is Ryan Shenk “Shenker” I’m 17 years old and I live in the United States of America. I’ve been freestyling for 1 year and 5 months now. I enjoy amazing people and because there are no limits to what you can achieve.

When did you first start to play Freestyle?
It all started when I was looking through videos on E-Baums world. I was looking through funny videos and then I looked at some of the sports ones. I saw one called "Crazy Soccer Tricks", I clicked on it and it was Touzani. I was so amazed, I watched it over and over again, putting it in slow-mo trying to figure out how he did it. Then I went outside to practice. I tried to do ATW and failed, then I quit for a while. Then I came across Expert Football where I saw some Noobs do easier tricks that I did not know about and this is when I really got into Freestyle And now I’ve been doing ever since.

Are you a Freestyle or a StreetMatch (streetmatch is streetsoccer) player, or maybe both?
I am mostly a Freestyler. I play some Panna Knockout with my other Freestyle friends sometime but I like freestyle a lot more though.

What is your best trick?
My best trick is probably AHMATW or ALATW. Well, my favourite trick is the LATW. LATW which is a double ATW with no touch in between.

What is the American Freestyle and StreetMatch culture all about?
Freestyle and StreetMatch aren’t very popular in the U.S. But Freestyle for me is all about being creative and inventing your own style.

Who is the best Freestyle player allround?
The Best Freestyle Player for me is Palle, because he makes the difficult look so smooth and simple while having variety.

What do you think about TrickMasters.com?
TrickMasters is a great site for any Freestyle or Street player to upload their clips, receive feedback from other users and win cool prizes.

Shoutout:
Keep on dropping your clips on TrickMasters, Respect!

Last night I was browsing the internet, watching some video’s, that’s when I came across an old Freestyle clip from the major of the streets, Edgar Davids. I saw this clip a couple of years ago and I was impressed by it, but when I saw the clip last night, I was still amazed by the skills of Edgar Davids. I wanted to share this video with you, because Edgar Davids is an inspiration for all of us, I know he’s one of mine inspirations.
